Welcome to the Junior School.
With an enrolment of more than 230 students between Kindergarten and Grade Five, we serve the local communities of Tsawwassen, Delta, Ladner, Richmond, Surrey and White Rock. Students whose families originate from
many countries around the world add to our diverse, globally aware learning community.
As an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) school we are dedicated to student centred education. Therefore, our curriculum emphasizes the traits that students must have to be successful in the 21st century: a spirit of inquiry and critical, creative thinking; the confidence to take risks and face uncertainty with forethought and determination; understanding the importance of becoming balanced, principled, and reflective global citizens; and the ability to engage in effective communication, teamwork and collaboration. We guide our students to become active learners who are committed to pursuing personal aspirations, setting challenging goals and then achieving them. Ultimately, these foundational years build self-confidence and the essential skills for a successful transition to high school.
In concert with the school’s academic rigour is the emphasis we place on the values of respect, responsibility, integrity and perseverance. We expect students to demonstrate empathy, compassion and respect for individual differences and to pursue the ideals of personal integrity, initiative and diligence. The recognition of these values within our school community has allowed us to create a safe, caring and trusting environment in which students are able to learn and thrive.
Southpointe teachers are engaged, supportive and dedicated individuals who use their sensitivity and creativity to bring the Junior School program to life. Through personalized lessons and assessment they ensure that instruction motivates each student. Faculty are chosen not only for their proficiency in their chosen profession, but also for their ability to model the values we promote.
I encourage you to schedule a private tour with our Admissions Director so that you and your child can personally experience Southpointe Academy. We look forward to meeting with you, gaining an understanding of your family’s educational needs, and discussing how we can work together to meet them.
