At Southpointe, we value gifts from our family of parents, alumni and their families, grandparents and friends.
Members of the Southpointe community provide financial support in many different ways. Giving is a very personal matter and we will work with families to match their interests to the School’s strategic priorities.
As an independent, non-denominational, not-for-profit institution, Southpointe Academy is able to issue tax receipts for qualifying donations over $50. We also accept a wide range of gifts. Below are the types of gifts that our school gratefully accepts.
Gifts of cash via cheque or credit card can be made to the school. We now provide an onsite credit card payment option, or gifts can be made directly online through the Parent Portal.
When you make a monthly contribution to Southpointe, you provide funding to enhance the educational experience for all students. It is automatic, convenient and you can spread your donation out over a year.
Many companies match their employees’ contributions to non-profit organizations. Check with your employer to find out if they have a matching gift program. A list of companies known to match charitable gifts may also be found here.
United Way Gifts
Did you know donations to the United Way can be directed to Southpointe Academy. Donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes from United Way and be recognized as a United Way donor. You will also have the option to be recognized as a Southpointe donor.
Gifts of Stocks and Securities
Gifts of publicly traded securities, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds are partially exempt from capital gains tax. A tax receipt is issued for the market value of the securities on the day of the legal transfer. To learn more, please contact Zoë Campbell, Director of Advancement, at email@example.com
Individuals donating purchased items must provide the sales receipt of the item to be receipted. This applies to purchases of tangible goods only and not to services.
Southpointe also accepts donations of real estate. Gifts will be evaluated for acceptance, subject to The Board Of Governors approval. A tax receipt will be provided for the fair market value of these gifts as assessed by qualified appraisers.
