Administrative Staff Updates

Paul Ketko – Junior School Principal

We welcome Mr. Ketko to Southpointe as our new Junior School principal. Mr. Ketko brings with him an impressive and well-rounded career in education as both an educator and an administrator. He has taught and lived in Hong Kong and Japan for over 20 years. Originally from Toronto, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.

In addition to teaching for 19 years, Mr. Ketko has held leadership roles for 15 years as head of school and elementary principal. He is well-versed in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, having led two schools through PYP implementation. Mr. Ketko’s beliefs are highly aligned with our school’s mission, vision and values. In his words, “It’s the students and teachers that count … developing a community of learners that respect and collaborate with one another to allow them to fulfill their dreams as internationally-minded and community-oriented individuals.” After many gratifying years of working overseas, Mr. Ketko and his wife decided it was time for a new challenge and are very excited to be living in B.C. We are confident that his international experience and in-depth knowledge of the PYP will serve the needs of Southpointe well.

Tobin Hammerberg – Director of Admissions

Tobin returns to Southpointe this year not as a Grade 5 teacher, but as our new Director of Admissions. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and international relations from the University of British Columbia, a Post-Graduate Degree in Education and is currently working towards his Master of Education (specializing in educational leadership and administrative management) both from Hong Kong University.

Tobin has taught in IB schools since 2008 and at Southpointe since 2014; he is knowledgeable about the IB program and its goals, and very familiar with Southpointe and the culture of its community. He deeply believes in the mission and values of our school, and is dedicated to maintaining and refining the School’s admissions procedures to find the best possible students for our school.

Onieka Brown – Human Resources Coordinator (Maternity Leave Cover)

Onieka joins Southpointe as our interim Human Resources Coordinator while Michelle Sharma is on maternity leave. Prior to her move to B.C., she worked in Alberta and Manitoba with a focus on human resources. Onieka has worked as a recruiter, human resources coordinator and as a senior immigration case worker. She has a Bachelor of Art Joint Honours Degree in management and human resources management from Middlesex University in London, England, and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (BC and Yukon) and a registered professional recruiter with the Association of Professional Recruiters of Canada.

Melissa Partridge – Office Support

We welcome Melissa as our new Office Support Clerk. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in drama (with a minor in art and design) from the University of Calgary. Her experience includes poster and company logo design, construction labourer, dance instructor, lighting designer and internet service proctor. Her diverse skills and ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere will be an asset to Southpointe.

Wendy Kessler – Senior School Administrative Assistant

We welcome Wendy as our new Senior School Administrative Assistant. She has past experience as an administrative assistant, graphic designer and has volunteered for many organizations. Wendy is responsible for Senior School Student Records and all aspects of the day-to-day administration of the senior school.


Parm Dusanjh – Accounting Clerk

Parm joins Southpointe as our Accounting Clerk. She has past experience as both an administrative and accounts payable clerk. Parm is currently a 4th year accounting student with a future goal of attaining a professional designation.

Garima Goswami – Communications and Marketing Officer

Garima joins us as our newest member of our Front Office staff. She has a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in addition to over 4 years of experience as an Assistant Editor a print magazine.
