Stephanie Lin graduated from Southpointe in 2014 and is currently pursuing a Bachelors in Mathematics from University of Waterloo.
Southpointe, for me, has been a major influence in my academic and professional careers. I really enjoyed my Math and Calculus courses at Southpointe. The teachers I had for these classes, Dr. Sirotic, Mr.Ross and Mr. Farshi, definitely influenced my decision to pursue a degree, and eventually, a career in Computer Science. Though those classes were quite fun and didactic, my best memories from School are the Band Trips to Seattle.
Currently, I am attending University of Waterloo where I received the President’s Scholarship. I am in my third year of Bachelors of Mathematics specializing in Computer Science, with a minor in Fine Arts Studio and I intend to pursue a career in product design. As part of my co-op placement, I am interning as part of BlackBerry’s UX Design team. I am designing interfaces mostly for Android including their Hub+ apps. It’s been an incredible opportunity to work with a group of such talented designers and the most rewarding part of my experience is knowing that my designs will influence and be used by millions of users.
