Alumni Profile: Timothy Kong

Congratulations to Dr. Timothy Kong (Class of 2011) on his acceptance to the Radiation Oncology at the BC Cancer Agency residency program.

“It has since been a surreal month for my loved ones and me,” says Tim. “I reflect often on how this moment has been a culmination of the dedication and support from all my mentors.”

Tim recently obtained his MD from the University of British Columbia, where he was awarded the UBC Science Scholar Award, Trek Excellence Scholarship, Dean’s Honour List and the Connie and Sam Carlin Scholarship for Oncology Research.

In addition to excelling at academics, Tim was able to be a part of the latest medical research and advancements, including working on an award-winning medical education resource called learnoncology.ca. He is very passionate about his work and found it rewarding to care directly for patients, especially those in their most vulnerable times with cancer diagnoses

Tim fondly recalls his time at Southpointe, especially being a Prefect and leading school events, travelling across the world on an exchange with our sister school in China and performing across Canada with the Senior Band.
