Alumni Weekend 2017

Alumni Titans returned to their Southpointe roots for a weekend of events. Kicking off the activities, Southpointe alumni spanning 10 graduating classes (2007-2016) served as a “Grad Panel” for the Senior School students.

All Grade 11 & 12 students attended this information sharing session and were excited to hear from a diverse group of graduates who are currently attending university to working in chosen careers. From great tips of getting to know your professors, to taking risks and changing career paths, to finding your passions, students questions were much-appreciated answered. Thank you to the alumni panel who took the time to share their experiences and support students as they plan their next steps.

Following the panel discussion, alumni from several graduating classes, faculty members (past and present), board members, and alumni parents attended the 3rd Annual Weekend Reception celebrating the Class of 2007’s 10 Year and introducing a 5 Year Reunion recognizing the Class of 2012. Graduates reconnected with each other, and Southpointe, sharing good memories and reminiscing with their former teachers, all of whom were interested to discover what our alumni are currently doing. The surprise action of the reception was an arm wrestling competition which Mr. Hilton won.

On Saturday morning, 36 alumni, faculty, and current students participated in the 2nd annual “Alumni Basketball Tournament”. Music blasted throughout the Jackson Carson Gymnasium as four teams – older alumni, younger alumni, faculty, and the Senior Boys Team – competed in a round robin format. It was wonderful to see a number of spectators come out to enjoy this event and cheer for their favorite teams! The tournament ended with a shoot out that was won by Balraj Singh (Class of 2014) and the older alumni team once again coming out on top. The team not only won the coveted “Tournament Champion” T-shirts, but also got their names on an Alumni Basketball Tournament trophy.
