After graduating from Southpointe in 2008, Vanessa migrated to Victoria where she completed an honours degree in Biology and Psychology at the University of Victoria. With a passion for learning and a desire to study medicine, she prepared to enter UBC’s faculty of medicine. A series of sports injuries led to experiences with naturopathic doctors and integrative healthcare. This, along with clinical research in preventive medicine, contributed to Vanessa’s decision to study naturopathic medicine. Vanessa attended the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, one of two 4-year accredited naturopathic medical programs in Canada, where she completed a 2-year clinical internship. During this time Vanessa participated in clinical research and built upon her undergraduate project in cognitive neuroscience. Recognizing the value of integrative healthcare, she co-authored and was published in the UBC Medical Journal. Academic. Her clinical studies were complemented by experience working with youth in mental health and a focused clinical internship on the Katzie First Nation reserve in Pitt Meadows.
Vanessa graduated as an N.D. this past December. She is currently awaiting licensure by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C. and will begin practice as a Naturopathic Physician in Vancouver this coming May.
